Dominion Mania - Saturday, March 13

Dominion was one of our most popular games in 2009, and it continues to attract tons of enthusiastic new players.  It appeals both to serious gamers and to families with older kids (8+) and plays equally well with 2, 3, or 4 players.   I'll readily admit that I didn't particularly like the game at first, but it has grown and grown on me, and I'd highly recommend it to just about anyone.  It's addictive, and if you haven't tried the game yet, you really should! 

So, to celebrate this great game, on Saturday, March 13 we'll be hosting an entire day of Dominion, and there will be something for everyone.  First we'll start with a learn-to-play drop-in session from 10:30 - Noon, followed by a beginner's tournament and then an advanced tournament.   All ages are welcome to participate in the events.

Learn-to-Play Session   10:30am - Noon
Why read the rules when you don't have to?  If you've been wanting to try Dominion, this is for you!  Just drop in the store before Noon and we'll explain the game and have you playing in 10 minutes.  No kidding!

Beginner's Dominion Tournament  12pm - 2pm
This tournament is for beginning Dominion players, and will use only the base set.  It's designed to give newer players an opportunity to face off against different people and play in a friendly but competitive environment.  Each player will participate in 2 games, then we'll have a final showdown between the 3 or 4 players with the best combined scores.
Seats: 16  /  Entry Fee: $2   /   Prize: $30 Cat & Mouse gift certificate

Advanced Tournament   3pm - 6pm
This tournament is for experienced players, and will use all three of the sets. Each player will participate in 3 games, then we'll have a final showdown between the 3 or 4 players with the best combined scores.
Seats: 16  /  Entry Fee: $5  /  Prize:  $60 Cat & Mouse gift certificate plus a small Dominion treasure chest from Rio Grande.

D&D Encounters Starting Wednesday, March 17

Starting Wednesday, 3/17, we'll be hosting weekly D&D Encounters.

D&D Encounters is an in-store weekly mini-campaign played out one encounter per session, with sessions every Wednesday. Each week, you gain Renown Points for accomplishments made both in-game and out-of-game. Points earn you exclusive rewards that you can apply to your current and future D&D Encounters characters.

D&D Encounters seasons rotate every few months, giving you the opportunity to try new adventure settings multiple times per year!

You don't need to RSVP to participate in D&D Encounters, but if you want to drop us a line letting us know you're interested in attending, that will help us with our planning as we get the series rolling.

Worldwide D&D Day - Saturday, March 20

Celebrate the release of Player’s Handbook 3 with a day of adventure! Psionic characters, skill powers, and hybrid classes abound in this essential rulebook. Test out the new classes and rules as you play a unique adventure and grab a copy of Player’s Handbook 3 while you’re here.

We'll repeat the same adventure twice during the day, once from 1-4 pm and again from 5-8 pm.  The adventure can accommodate 5 players, so if you'd like to participate, please let us know.

Cat & Mouse Garage SALE! - Saturday, March 27

No, we don't really have a garage here at the store. But we do have an awful lot of demo and sample games, to the point that we're running out of storage space, so all day long we'll be holding a sale of "used" games. We'll have a few hundred games for sale, ranging from Euro strategy games to children's games and everything in between. Some have been lightly used, and some have never been used at all but are not in shrink wrap. All will be sold at rock-bottom prices.   We'll also have a collection of vintage classic games (chess, cards, backgammon, mah jong, etc.) that we'll be selling off.  Come early and find some real gems!
