Killer Bunnies Brunch
Join us for food, drink and games this Sunday!

We can't close the store on Easter, so we're bringing the brunch and the bunnies to the store!  If you have no family obligations, join us this Sunday when we'll be playing games and enjoying some tasty food and drinks.  We can't celebrate Spring without some Killer Bunnies silliness, but we'll be breaking out plenty of other fun games, too.  Hope to see you there!

Treat Your Children to Something Special
Sign them up for the new Cat & Mouse Birthday Club

We know how excited our own kids get when their birthdays approach, and getting a card in the mail with a bit of a treat just makes it more special.   Add something special to your own child's birthday when you sign them up for our new Birthday Club program.

When your child joins the Cat & Mouse Birthday Club, he or she will receive a personalized card from us along with a $5 gift certificate on their birthday.  When they come into the store to redeem it they'll also get to pick out a small toy from our Birthday Toybox!  To sign up your child, just ask for the Birthday Club form the next time you're in the store.

Race to Win a PitchCar Set!

It's true!  Thanks to the generous support from Chicago's own FRED Distribution, you'll have a golden opportunity to win your very own PitchCar base set ($79.99) during our PitchCar tournament on Sunday, April 26.   PitchCar is the wooden finger-flicking race car game that can be enjoyed by young and old alike, so be sure to bring along the kids.

There's no need to pre-register for the tournament and no entry fee; just show up between 1:00 and 2:00 and we'll get you in a race.  We'll have two tracks going at the same time and will be able to run through a lot of races pretty quickly.  Finalists will start their engines at 2:30 to compete for the big trophy!

Agricola Tournament is Underway!

Throughout the first half of April we're hosting an Agricola tournament, but this one will work a little differently than our previous tournaments.  Contestants will play 2 qualifying games during regular store hours, then the top 8 players will gather for the final tournament on Saturday, April 18th.  Players will compete not just for glory, but also for Cat & Mouse Gift Certificates and Animeeples donated by Mayday Games.  May the best farmer win!

What's New in the Store

  • Adult & Strategy Games
    • It's been a dry month for new strategy game releases, but Z-Man did come out with two new card games (Court of the Medici and Archaeology) and there's the new Carcassone Big Box and The Name of the Rose from Rio Grande.  If you haven't checked out The Name of the Rose yet and are a fan of bluffing or deduction games, you should definitely give it a try.  It's gotten rave reviews from customers who have played it in the store.

    • Word game enthusiasts will want to check out the new Kwikord, the fast-playing crossword game from local company Nudnik Games.

  • Children's Games & Toys

    • BIG shipment from Hape, makers of toys and games for 2-7 year-olds.  We're now stocking most of their bamboo collection as well as their magnetic marble mazes, dress-up lacing butterfly, alphabet abacus, and more!

    • Re-stock of HABA titles, including Animal Upon Animal, The Little Orchard, and Treasure Hunting.

    • The 39 Clues is a popular book series for kids from Scholastic, and we now have the 39 Clues card game in stock.  The 39 Clues board game is coming soon!

  • Puzzles

    • Re-stocks of several ThinkFun titles including Chocolate Fix, TipOver, and Rush Hour.  We also have their new Adams Cube, which is a neat little tangram puzzle cube. The compact size and storage for the pieces make it a great take-along puzzle.

    • A variety of wooden puzzles, including wooden tangrams, soma cubes, Towers of Hanoi, and snake puzzles.  We also have Japanese puzzle boxes back in stock!

    • Fans of tile puzzles will like the optical illusion magnetic puzzles from Gamewright.  Trippy!

Recent News & Reviews

  • Two students from Columbia College visited the store last month to film a video article about Cat & Mouse for the Columbia Chronicle.  It was fun having them in the store, and thanks go out to everyone who was willing to talk to the camera!
  • Le Havre, the highly anticipated new game from the designer of Agricola, is set to arrive in the store on Wednesday April 15.   If you haven't read much about Le Havre yet, there's a good overview of the game at Boardgamenews.com.
